The Crew

The Bumble Bee, The Charlie Brown ghost, the rock star, and the diner girl all had a fun night. 

Samantha worked the Fall carnival at church with a friend and the little kids trick or treated in the neighborhood and then headed over to church.  We had a great time.

Levi was very happy with his rock star make up Samantha put on for him.  I think he would make a really pretty girl:)

Garrett ended up wearing his Dad's peanut's Halloween shirt.  He had so much fun with his friends at church tonight I think next year he will want to dress up again.  I told him to smile so he acted goofy.  I love how both the girls are looking at him and Amelia is sticking out her tongue.  She loves Garrett so much!

Thanks Zach and Tyler for staying home and passing out the candy to the trick or treaters.  I'm hoping you didn't just give all the candy to the first group who came by:(  Now, you wouldn't do something like that would you.............?????

The pumpkins are carved, costumes selected, and the anticipation is growing.  Amelia loves candy so I am sure her first Halloween will prove to be a big hit in that department.

After weeks of trying to change her mind I gave in and let Paige be the Charlie Brown ghost from "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown". Seriously?  I thought for sure she would change her mind once I took her to the store and showed her all the really cute costumes.  They had they cutest Raggedy Ann costume...no, she just wants a sheet thrown over her head with lots of holes cut in it.  If you remember Charlie Browns costume has lots of sets of eyes all over it because he kept messing up and starting over.  No nose or mouth.  Just lots of pairs of eyes. 

Yesterday I threw a white sheet over her head, cut it with lots of holes and tied a little sash around it.  She was thrilled!  She LOVES IT.  The rest of us think she looks like one of the ladies wearing a Burka in Afghanistan.

Levi picked out a rock star costume which is sooo him, Samantha is going as a Diner waitress, Amelia is a cute little bumble bee, and Garrett has opted to not dress up this year and just stay home with his older brothers and pass out candy.  His brothers trick or treated way into their teens.  I guess he is going to buck that trend.  We'll see if he decides to grab something out of the dress up box when it is time to go.

The kids will trick or treat on our street and then we will head over to the Fall Festival at church.

Should be another memorable first for Levi and Amelia.  He can't believe that you just knock on people's doors and they will give you candy.  Americans!  We are just so crazy:)

Apple Picking Time

We drove up to Oak Glenn for some apple picking fun last weekend. 

This is Dave walking back to the family to tell us the apples we want to pick are on the top of that hill.

It didn't look like that long of a walk, but it was.  However, the Jonathan apples we found were delicious!

It was a little late in the season for the Jonathon's so most of the good ones were left at the top.  We used this handy dandy apple picker to get them down.

Paige liked picking too!

Samantha and Dave definitely had the best technique.

Amelia loved picking the apples off the ground and eating them.  She must have taken a bite out of a dozen apples.  The little stinker!

It was a really hot day.  Actually to hot.  Next time we will make sure to have fall weather when we go.  The kids cooled off against the cold water tank here.  It did feel nice.

All of the kids started pooping out after a while.  Samantha decided to take an apple break in the stroller.

Overall, it was a really fun day.  The kids got to go into the petting zoo and take a hay ride as well as pick some apples.  Next year I think we will take the older boys  and make a day out of it.  They have some really nice picnic area's and all sorts of fun activities going on during apple picking season.

Yesterday we celebrated Levi's 8th birthday.  This was his first ever birthday part and he was so excited.  We had family and his friends from Ethiopia over for the day.  He had so much fun.  Pictures to follow in a few days.
